Golapaos, sharks and IR

Sat Oct 3, 2009, 8:49 AM
As an ever increasing fan of the underwater world and especially sharks, this brought a tear to my eye

Out of sight ...

Ok, how awesome are these?

Great, aren't they, and as a particular fan of trees I descided to try my hand. A word of advice - before buying an IR filter such as Hoyas R72 research your lens and camera for vulnerability to hot-spots. I think I may be able to work around the problem but only with a LOT of hassle.I still want to persevere but ... well I'm not holding my breath =(
My idea is to use a neutral card like one would to take a white balance image but instead to use it as a layer in photoshop and hopefully counter the hot-spot. I have no idea if it will work! Wish me luck =P

thanks for the faves on my storm series! i'm glad you like them :-) sorry for the late reply, but i'm in Kamchatka (the wilderness at the far end of Russia) at the moment, and satellite connections are a little hard to come by ;-)

cheers!

:-) the scenery is absolutely stunning, and i've taken around 6000 photos so far... still got another 3 weeks on the trip, so it might take a little while to weed through them! thanks for the watch, though, and i hope you like the upcoming photos
