Compartment Fire training 1

I managed to snatch a moment between my own training to take a photo or two. I'd love to go back in a purely photojournalistic role!

This is a fire in the back of a Shipping container. To begin with we are positioned right inside to watch how the fire spreads close up and as the flames start dancing accross the ceiling over our heads we move back outside.
There are several vents which are opened and closed to allow the environment to build, a firefighter to go in and tackle the blaze and then the hostile environment rebuilt again.
Temperatures at the roof above the fire are near 600degrees Celcius.
It's amasing how much radiant heat our kit can take though - at the start I watched a cardboard box that was within touching distance, sopntaniously burst into flames from it!!!
