Gold Cliffs of Sussex

The tremendous number of textures in this photo certainly draws the viewer in. The water is rippled, smooth, wavy; the cliffs are rugged; some clouds are fluffy, others thin. Yet everything is in focus.
Light, too, is varied, going from luminous in the upper left to nearly dark in the lower right. Light with the shadows it casts defines the clouds, the cliffs, and most stunningly, the water.
Only a thin slice of the setting sun is visible - an original detail. Yet this sun, still yellow, makes the pink clouds glow, gives depth to the blue of the sky, and causes the cliffs and the water to take on a golden hue. This is truly a superb seascape.
